Getting Started

Taking the first step to initiate therapy can be a difficult decision. Often, people explore many alternative options; however, they find that whatever issues they are struggling with persist. It is not uncommon to have mixed feelings about beginning psychotherapy. You may feel embarrassed, unsure of how to proceed or how to find a good therapist. You may feel afraid of the unknown, or uncertain about what therapy can offer you. These are all normal and common feelings.

I consider our initial 3 sessions to be a period of assessment and evaluation. During these first sessions, there is an opportunity for me to begin to understand what brings you to therapy and how I may be helpful and an opportunity for you to get a sense of what it is like to work with mel.
